What is Cryotherapy?
Cryotherapy is an amazing way to help your body feel better. It’s used widely by athletes for recovery after intense training as well as by anyone who is looking for pain management. Inflammation is the root of a lot of our bodies aches and pains and Cryotherapy can reduce inflammation helping to effectively manage pain and discomfort.
What is it Like?
Your Spa Technician will start your Cryotherapy session – cool dry air will flow over your body for 2-3 minutes. During this time your skin’s surface temperature will drop by 30-50 degrees.
The rapid drop in skin temperature causes vasoconstriction, at which time blood in your body will be flushed from muscle and skin surface tissue to your core. Your bodies red blood cells are then enriched with oxygen and nutrients.
What are the Benefits?
Cryotherapy can decrease muscle soreness, pain and inflammation. If you like to train intensely when working out, Cryotherapy can help you to recover faster. Cryotherapy can also help with pain management. How Will I Feel After?
After your session, your body will immediately begin to warm up to its natural temperature. Vasodilation begins, sending the oxygenated and nutritious blood back to the skin’s surface.
